CD-ROM BASEBALL - VERSION 12.02 PATCH

This patch updates Version 12.0 or 12.01i to Version 12.02. Please be careful to follow the instructions exactly, especially the "INSTALLING THE PATCH" section below.

DESCRIPTION

This patch includes the new SOMBB.EXE program which adds a graphical user interface, and Microsoft Vista(tm) support. PLEASE SEE THE "NEW FEATURES" SECTION OF THE HELP FILE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

You must run the SOMBB.EXE program in order to see the new interface! The old application file BASEBALL.EXE still works and it still features the old interface.

This patch includes fixes to both the original V12 game and the V12.01 new interface version of the game. After installing this patch you will still be able to use either version of the game.

MICROSOFT VISTA(TM) NOTES

The patch must be installed with a user sign-on that has administrator privileges. This will allow the DLLs to be registered properly.

Also, when installing you might see an "Unknown Publisher" warning message. If so you should click "Run" to proceed.

Vista(tm) no longer supports Winhelp which our program uses. We hope to convert our help file to a newer format in the future. In the meantime, you can download the Winhelp viewer for Vista(tm) at the following link: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82148

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT NETPLAY

Both participants in a Netplay game MUST be at the same patch level of the game. If you try to play a Netplay game where one player has the patch and the other does not then the game will automatically exit as soon as the ballpark picture appears at the start of the game.

INSTALLING THE PATCH

** If you do not have any current league backups, please use the Backup League function to backup all league data before installing the patch.

1. Close all programs including the CD-ROM Baseball game.

2. Execute the patch program. You will be prompted to select the folder to install the patch to. IMPORTANT: If you have multiple versions of the game installed please CAREFULLY CHECK the default folder location selected by the installer, as it may not be correct! After selecting the folder the patch will be installed.

3. Important: You MUST perform this step to verify that the patch has been applied! Execute the SomBB.EXE Baseball program and access the "About..." menu item in the Help menu. If it says

"v12.02b" then the patch has been successfully applied. Note that the old version of the game ("CD ROM Baseball" which is CDROMBB.EXE) and all add-on programs such as Netplay and the Encyclopedia will still say "v12.00b".
