Pro Football Seasons
1968 Football Windows Season
- Separate but equal: Jets’ Super Bowl win = parity for AFL
- NFL: Baltimore 13-1, Dallas 12-2
- AFL: Oakland, KC 12-2; Jets 11-3
Anyone who ever talked back to an adult and didn’t get away with it loved this: Jets’ QB Joe Namath brashly predicted a Super Bowl victory against dominant Baltimore (which outscored foes 402-144), then kicked the Colts’ butt. The AFL title race was better, too. Statistically, both Oakland and KC were better than the Jets. The Raiders had a 32-point offense, while the Chiefs held victims to 12 points per game. Dallas outscored foes 431-186 behind a Bob Lilly-led defense and Don Meredith’s deep passing to Bob Hayes and Lance Rentzel.
