Baseball Seasons
1990 Baseball Windows Season
- In their dust: Reds brush aside A’s with World Series sweep
- Outta here: Cecil Fielder first to top 50 HR since ’77
- Barry Bonds (.301-33-114) wins 1st of 7 MVP awards
The 103-win, three-time AL champ A’s looked invincible. Mark McGwire hit 39 HR, Jose Canseco 33. Rickey Henderson hit .325, with 65 SB. Bob Welch led with 27 wins, Dave Stewart added 22 and Dennis Eckersley saved 48 with a miniscule 0.61 ERA. But the Reds’ Jose Rijo shut down the A’s twice and the Nasty Boys bullpen (Randy Myers, Rob Dibble, Norm Charlton) preserved the other two games.
