2007-08 Hockey Windows Season
- Red Wings fulfill potential with another Stanley Cup
- Alex the Great: Ovechkin’s 65 goals dominate
- Penguins still climbing, this time to Cup finals
The top season team for the fourth straight year, Detroit broke a playoff slump by winning its first Cup since ’02, led by Pavel Datsyuk (97 points), Henrik Zetterberg (92) and Niklas Lidstrom, who won his 6th Norris Trophy. Youth thrived elsewhere, especially in Pittsburgh, with Sidney Crosby (72 points in 53 games) and Evgeni Malkin (110 points) and in Washington, where Alex Ovechkin’s 65 goals were the most in 12 years and 13 more than any other of the league’s nine 40-plus goal scorers. Can’t get enough? Here’s more.
