Dallas’ trio of QB Troy Aikman (69% complete, NFL-best 1.5% INTs), RB Emmitt Smith (NFL-best 1,486 yards rushing) and WR Michael Irvin (88 catches, 1,330 yards) were too tough again, leading the franchise to its second straight Super Bowl and fourth overall, tying Pittsburgh and San Francisco. Former Super Bowl heroes Joe Montana and Marcus Allen joined Kansas City and took the Chiefs deep into the playoffs. The 49ers, with Steve Young replacing Montana, were 10-game winners for a record 11-straight season … Also starring in this season: Houston’s Warren Moon (3,485 yards passing) and Buffalo’s Thurman Thomas (1,315 yards rushing) and Bruce Smith (13.5 sacks).
