NO HITS? NO PROBLEM
First season on the new online site, and I recently had this gem of a game in the 2011 set: Both pitchers (Sabathia v Beckett) took no-hitters into the 7th, each gave up just one hit through nine innings, and my team wins it in the 10th on a walk, pinch runner (Pagan), SB, pop out, fielder’s choice, IBB, and with two outs, a double steal including home plate for the 1-0 lead. Closer sealed it in bottom of 10th after allowing a lead-off double. Three total hits, ten innings, and the only run scores on a steal of home in extra innings? Quite incredible.

Quite incredible, though I’m having trouble following how your man got to third before stealing home. If pinch-runner Pagan stole second and, with no one behind him, was retired on the fielder’s choice after the pop out, the intentional walk would have left men at first and second. It must have been a fielder’s choice that failed to retire Pagan as he went for third.
SUPER MARIO
This auto-played beauty occurred during my 1978 MLB replay: Pittsburgh’s Mario Mendoza, the folk legend behind the infamous “Mendoza Line,” blasted a two-run, pinch-hit homer in the bottom of the 9th to beat Don Sutton and the Dodgers. He used his N power against righties to coax a homer off a 6-5 roll on Sutton’s card (HR 1-14 DO 15-20). Split roll 8 and it was mayhem in the River City!
As I looked at the box score, perhaps my favorite part of this game is the home run heroics raised Mario’s average to an even .200. That’s right, he’s back on the “Mendoza Line” once again.

In a 1948 season replay game:
Pitcher Tommy Byrne, batting 8th in the lineup (ahead of Phil Rizzuto) against Washington, goes 4 for 5 with 4 2Bs and 9 RBI! The first was on his own card (he is an 8). The other three were off various opposing pitcher’s cards. He is now batting .414 in 70 Abs. He has 2 HRs, at least 2 triples, and at least 6 doubles with no detailed pitchers’ hitting stats available. Oh yeah, he completed the game to go to 15-4 with an ERA of 1.54.

Tommy Byrne pitched a 3 hitter and he had 4 hits and 9 RBI at Yankee Stadium
as the potent New York Bronx Bombers embarrassed the Washington Senators
by the lopsided score of 14 to 2.
Byrne was a one-man wrecking crew. He doubled plating two runs in the 2nd inning, doubled plating two runs in the 4th inning, doubled plating all three base runners in the 5th inning and doubled bringing in two base runners in the
7th inning. New York totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.
