SOM Football and Baseball Tournaments at CincyCon

STRAT-O-MATIC FOOTBALL, BASEBALL TOURNAMENTS AT CincyCon
 
The annual football and baseball tournaments conducted in Cincinnati are scheduled for March 1-3 in conjunction with CincyCon, the Greater Cincinnati game convention.
  
Details are on the CincyCon website (www.cincycon.org). Put your cursor over the Events Tab, then click on Tournaments. Also see the CincyCon website for information about location, lodging, etc.
 
The $40 tournament entry cost includes entry to the entire CincyCon convention.
 
 
Football Schedule of Events:
For the football tournament, we will start the draw for the tournament teams online on Feb. 6 for all those who have registered by Feb.1. Those who register later will pick later.
 
Friday, March 1 – 6:30pm Rules Review in the Main Atrium followed by Draft

Saturday, March 2 – 9:00am Begin 3-game mini league (Main Game area)
                                 11:30am Lunch

Sunday, March 3 – 9:00am Begin Playoffs and backup tournament


 
Baseball Tournament
Format will be a stock-team tournament using the advanced format. Any team that Strat has recreated in the ADVANCED or Super Advanced format is eligible but the tourney will use the advanced rules.

There will a meet and greet as well as a rules discussion at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. We’ll also finish up the tournament team draw if needed. The tournament will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Again the website has the schedule.
 
The rules for the tournaments also are available on the website. The rules for this tournament are different from rules for such other tournaments as the Brammer Tournament. Below is a summary of the items that are different.

  • Dice will be provided
  • Tie breaking procedure
  • Sack yardage
  • Pass Rush Chart
  • Out of bounds on 1,3,5 (odd man out of bounds)
  • QB’s may end run more than once per half.
  • No blocking back offense. See offensive formation rules.
  • Throwing for the end zone – we are using Strat rule. See rule F4b
  • No limitations on when you can use defensive formations
  • Wrong in flat and Look-in only if LB vacates his zone to double team.
  • QB Shadow anywhere on the field
  • Will not use Short yardage pass defense
  • Fair Catches on Punt
  • Field Goal attempts based on Offensive team
