Another Day. Another Game. Another Sim!
You can find our sim from last night’s NL Wild Card Game here. It matched pretty nicely all the way up until that bottom of the 8th inning where the Nationals won the game.
Today we move on to the AL between Tampa Bay and Oakland.
Who will move on to the ALDS against Houston? Let’s find out!
We had some first inning runs in this one too. After Yandy Diaz and Tommy Pham each reach base, Travis d’Arnaud knocks in a run with a base hit putting Tampa up 1-0.
Oakland gets at it right away though. Two home runs from Ramon Laureano and Matt Chapman give the A’s a 3-1 lead after the first.
Sean Murphy tacks on another homer in the 2nd while Sean Manaea dominates the Rays hitters after that shaky first. Robbie Grossman knocks in a run in the 6th and Manaea completes 7 innings, allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, the 1 run and strikes out 8.
Murphy will add a 2nd homer in his first playoff game and Jesus Luzardo and Liam Hendricks close it out as Oakland advances on their 6-1 victory.
