The 1981 Baseball Season was split into two halves due to the player’s strike. The winners of each division from both halves of the season qualified for the playoffs. Despite finishing with the best overall record in all of baseball for the entire season, because Cincinnati did not win its division in either half of the season, the team missed out on the postseason altogether.
 
This week’s 3-Minute Baseball gives Cincinnati their fair shot, as they square off against the 1981 National League and World Series Champion, LA Dodgers.
