Lou Gehrig Day Simulation: HR Derby between Gehrig, Ruth, Mantle, and Maris

As part of baseball’s “Lou Gehrig Day” on June 2nd, Strat-O-Matic will be donating 10% of all sales on that date to The ALS Association Greater New York Chapter. Beginning today, a new Gehrig simulation will run each day until Wednesday.

Today’s Sim: A Home Run Derby between Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, and Roger Maris.

Rules: Each player used the best single column on his Strat-O-Matic Hall of Fame or Heroes card. Each player would get 10 rolls with all non-HR readings resulting in an out. All ballpark homerun readings will be considered a homerun.

Gehrig gets out to a quick start as the only player to hit one in his first at bat. Ruth follows with a homer in at-bat #2 while Maris and Mantle each get on the board with their third at bat. At the halfway mark, Ruth’s 3 homers stand ahead of the others who have 2. Gehrig and Mantle tie Ruth in at-bat #6 while Gehrig and Ruth both get to HR #4 in their 7th at bat. That’s all for Ruth while Gehrig hits back-to-back “ballpark” homeruns to win the contest by swatting 6 total bombs. Each of the other participants end the day with 4.

Winner: Lou Gehrig!
