Baltimore was led by World Series/Regular Season MVP and Regular Season Triple Crown Winner Frank Robinson (.316, 49, 122), who they acquired at the start of the season. 1966 would be the final season in the illustrious career of Sandy Koufax, who pulled off the Triple Crown for pitchers that year (27 wins, 1.73 ERA, 317 strikeouts) en route to his third career Cy Young Award.
