Here at Strat-O-Matic, we’re all about playing our game and seeing how it compares to real life results. You can compare our results to last year’s World Series results from last year’s World Series simulation (spoiler alert: probably should’ve pulled Matt Harvey out…)
 
This year’s Wild Card games feature lots of hard-hitting teams so naturally we wanted to simulate the games. Tonight is the AL Wild Card game between Toronto and Baltimore and tomorrow we’ll have San Francisco vs. New York.
 
If our simulation is any indication, we should be in for a wild ride in tonight’s game.
 

Baltimore’s Chris Tillman and Toronto’s Marcus Stroman got to heed the call for their teams, as they went head-to-head in an open dome at the Rogers Centre. The crowd was jumping as the first six innings of the game featured a tense scoreless pitcher’s duel.  Stroman and Tillman were wheeling and dealing until Matt Wieters launched a two out solo home run for Baltimore to chase Stroman. The home team had to keep it close so they brought in closer Roberto Osuna in the top of the 8th after Jason Grilli walked J.J. Hardy. Baltimore sent Zach Britton out to finish what the offense had started and with his record, it was easy to trust the league’s most dominant closer. However, in a moment of postseason magic, the bottom of the 8th yielded a huge reward for Toronto, as Troy Tulowitzki launched a two-run home run to put Toronto ahead, bringing in Bautista, who had walked earlier in the inning. 
 
It was now up to Osuna to close the game out, after Toronto had managed to find a way to give Zach Britton his first blown save all year. However, Baltimore rallied back and Manny Machado answered with a two-run home run of his own to give Baltimore the one run lead back. Michael Bourn made sure it was for good, after he put the game away with a three-run home run after two two-out singles and Britton did the rest. He closed out the game and got the win, despite blowing the save, as the Orioles moved on to the divisional series with a legendary 6-2 road win.
