Baseball Seasons
1888 Baseball Windows Season
- Cap Anson wins 2nd NL batting title
- Future HOFers Keefe, Welch, Connor, Ewing star for NY
- Dan Brouthers, King Kelly, John Clarkson also top-shelf
Back to three-strikes-you’re-out (after a year requiring four) dropped scoring, batting averages and ERAs dramatically. Pitchers dominated, but none like Tim Keefe, who won the NL pitching Triple Crown (35-12, 1.74, 335 Ks) and led New York to the championship. In the American Association, Cincinnati 1B John Reilly nearly won a batting Triple Crown (.321-13-103).
