1904 Baseball Windows Season
- Wild One: One bad pitch spoils Chesbro’s 41-win season
- McGinnity wins 35, Mathewson 33, Giants the pennant
- Feud fight: McGraw refuses to play a World Series
Nobody since has matched Jack Chesbro’s 41 wins and 48 complete games in 1904 (with a 1.82 ERA). But his ninth-inning wild pitch on the final day of the season kept his New York Highlanders from winning the AL pennant. The Giants’ John McGraw, still in a hissy fit with the AL, refused to play the Red Sox in a World Series.
