Experience Chicago’s dominant pitcher, led by Dick Redding (32 wins, 1.57 ERA, league-best 159 Ks) and Tom Williams (23-9, 1.71) and New York’s pitching star Smokey Joe Williams (31 wins) and its power (Jewel Thomas led the league by hitting .359, with an OPS of .906, and catcher Louis Santop had a .948 OPS. But it was Havana pitcher Juan Padron who was king of the hill at 25-12 with a 1.56 ERA. (These stats calculated as Major-League equivalencies to a 150-game season.)
