The Cubs dominated the NL, but Cleveland (Tris Speaker: .318) and Washington (Walter Johnson: 23 wins) were within four games of Boston. The Red Sox’ Babe Ruth starred on the mound (13-7, 2.22) and as an outfielder for the first time (league-best 11 HR and slugging, while batting .300)
