Baseball Seasons
1935 Baseball Windows Season
- Tigers roar: Repeat AL champs finally win a World Series
- Cubs climb past Cardinals, Giants with 23 September wins
- Lights and darkness: Night games in Cinci, Ruth’s last swings in Boston
In one of the fiercest pennant-race finishes ever, 20-game winners Bill Lee and Lon Warneke led the Cubs over St. Louis (Dizzy Dean: 28 wins; Joe Medwick: .353-23-126) and New York (Carl Hubbell: 23 wins; Mel Ott: .322-31-114). In the AL, Hank Greenberg (.328-38-170) and Charlie Gehringer (.330-19-108) made Detroit just 3 games better than the Yankees, who played without Babe Ruth for the first time since 1919.
