This star-packed season features 16 Hall of Famers and 33 players from Strat-O-Matic’s Negro League Stars.
With stats adjusted to a 156-game schedule, the mighty Homestead Grays (102-54) dominated the National League and the legendary Kansas City Monarchs (98-58) dominated the American. But it was Newark’s Mule Suttles who nearly won a Triple Crown, batting. 345 (trailing Speed Whatley’s .348), slugging 38 HR (tied with Josh Gibson) and leading the league with 135 RBI. Homestead’s Gibson (1.126), teammate Buck Leonard (1.037), Suttles (1.026) and Indianapolis’ Quincy Trouppe (1.011) had awesome OPS numbers.
KC’s Hilton Smith (22-9) and Chicago’s Sugg Cornelius (22-15) led 17 20-game winners on the mound.
