1942 Baseball Windows Season
- Ted Williams’ first Triple Crown: .356-36-137
- Rookie Stan Musial helps Cardinals win Series
- Yankees win AL battle as stars begin heading to war
With rivals Hank Greenberg, Charlie Gehringer and Bob Feller enlisting in the U.S. war effort, the Yankees were the still awesome with Joe DiMaggio, Bill Dickey and MVP Joe Gordon (.322-18-103) to reach the World Series. But the Cardinals, with 21-year-old Stan Musial and dominant pitcher Mort Cooper (22-7, 1.78), were better yet after finishing just two games ahead of Brooklyn in an exciting NL pennant race.
