Hockey Seasons
1950-51 Hockey Windows Season
- Team of the Century: Detroit first to reach 100 points
- Leafs at their best: Cup-winners have franchise-best 95 points
- Fastest triggers duel: Howe outscores Rocket Richard, 43-42

Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe, topped the NHL in scoring and rookie goalie Terry Sawchuk set an NHL record with 44 wins. Three more future Hall of Famers – defenseman Red Kelly and Howe’s linemates Sid Abel and Ted Lindsay – were among the league’s top nine scorers. But Toronto could match Detroit’s defense. And Teeder Kennedy, Max Bentley, Todd, Sloan and Sid Smith scored enough to get the Leafs the ultimate prize, the Stanley Cup. Can’t get enough? Here’s more.
