The Canadiens seized control of the NHL this year. Totally. Montreal won the season by an astonishing 24 points, then destroyed Detroit in the Cup finals. Jean Beliveau easily won the competition for goals (47) and points (88). Seven of his teammates joined him in the Hall of Fame, including G Jacques Plante, D Doug Harvey and RW Rocket Richard. The league had other stars like Gordie Howe and Andy Bathgate. But nobody could delay the start of the greatest NHL dynasty ever.
