The Leafs showed their resilience by winning their second straight Stanley Cup by vanquishing Montreal and Detroit in 5 games each. Incomparable Gordie Howe led the NHL with 38 goals. His 86 points earned him his sixth scoring title and sixth MVP award. He would win neither again.
