Hockey Card Sets (By Season)
1967-68 Hockey 6 Team Card Set
- NHL expands from 6 to 12 teams
- Montreal sweeps St. Louis in first East-West Cup finals
- Boston (90 points), Chicago (84), New York (80), Philadelphia (73)
Is that big enough for you? Unlike other sports’ gradual expansions, the NHL doubled its size in one season and emphasized it by putting Los Angeles, Minnesota, Oakland, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and St. Louis in one division apart from the established teams. All the top scorers came from the Original Six (Bobby Hull’s 44 goals and Stan Mikita’s 87 points led), but the new teams battled to the final day for first place and for playoff spots.
