Pro Football Seasons
1971 Football Windows Season
- Big Deal in Big D: Cowboys win their first Super Bowl; Dolphins reach their first
- What If: Can you get the 11-3 Vikings or 10-3-1 Chiefs into your Super Bowl?
- Mega-Stars: Staubach, Csonka, Otis Taylor, Bubba Smith and the Purple People Eaters
Roger Staubach’s NFL legend was born as Dallas won its first Super Bowl after its defeat in the big game last year. First, the elusive, scrambling Staubach led the NFL in passing (8.9 yards/pass) while also rushing for 8.4 per carry. Then, with the help of running backs Duane Thomas and Calvin Hill, WR Bob Hayes and a dominant defense, the Cowboys turned back the up-and-coming Miami Dolphins with QB Bob Griese, WR Larry Csonka and WR Paul Warfield … Other stars of this season include Kansas City QB Len Dawson and WR Otis Taylor and such stalwart defenders as the KC linebacking crew of Bobby Bell, Willie Lanier and Jim Lynch; Minnesota’s Purple People Eater defense led by Alan Page and Carl Eller, and Baltimore’s Bubba Smith, Ted Hendricks and Mike Curtis.
