Wayne’s World: Wayne Gretzky led the NHL again with 73 goals and broke his own record for assists with 135, feeding linemate Jari Kurri’s 71 goals and Edmonton’s second straight championship … A young Philadelphia team, under rookie head coach Mike Keenan, won the regular season with 113 points and advanced to the finals. Tim Kerr scored 54 and Pelle Lindbergh won the Vezina Trophy for the Flyers. The fun in Philly and the debut of Pittsburgh’s Mario Lemieux (43 goals, 57 assists) suggested a promising future for the NHL.
