Hockey Seasons
2002-03 Hockey Windows Season
- Devils again in hockey heaven with 3rd Cup
- Disney-owned Anaheim nearly completes Cinderella finish
- Brodeur wins first of four Vezina Trophies
Anaheim’s Mighty Ducks weren’t one of the seven, closely bunched 104-plus point teams. Goalie J.S. Giguere wasn’t the season’s top goalie. But No. 7-seed Anaheim proved how far it can go with a playoff-MVP goalie. The Ducks dumped 110-point Detroit, then 111-point Dallas, advanced to the Stanley Cup finals for the first time and forced New Jersey to a seventh game. Ottawa (113 points) was best during the season and Colorado’s Peter Forsberg was the season MVP in his finest year (106 points).
