Undefeated season. National Championship. Heisman Trophy. No.1 1 pick in the NFL draft. It will be tough to top the season of LSU QB Joe Burrow and his Strat-O-Matic card may be irresistible. Burrow had nine games with at least four touchdowns passes in 2019, against the most difficult schedule any of the quarterback prospects in this year’s draft. In LSU’s final three games — the SEC championship and the Tigers’ two College Football Playoff games — Burrow completed 70% of his passes for an average of 435 yards, and he threw 16 touchdowns and no interceptions.

In all, it may be the greatest season of any college football player after factoring in LSU’s schedule: 60 touchdowns, 5,671 yards passing, 76.3 completion percentage and just 6 interceptions.LSU, which beat five teams ranked in the top 10 at the time, rolled in the post-season, outscoring Georgia, Oklahoma and Clemson 142-63.

It was a season of great teams and great conference play. Undefeated national champion LSU. Runner-up Clemson and Ohio State did not lose until the national championship playoffs. Oklahoma, the other playoff team, got there by handing Baylor its only Big 12 loss. Oregon and Utah, two of the five top-10 teams to lose to an unranked team, lost their shot at the national championship in those games, their only losses in the PAC-12.

Twenty teams won at least 11 games. Five teams each in the Big Ten and American Athletic Conference won at least 10. In all, 27 teams won at least 10 games. Add nine-win Auburn (No. 14) and Michigan (No. 18), the only ranked teams with fewer than 10 wins, and you are well on your way to a dandy 32-team tournament using Strat-O-Matic’s Tournament Mode.
