By popular demand, Strat-O-Matic expands its Diamond Gems franchise with teams from the beloved 1960s, all in Super Advanced format and fully compatible with prior Diamond Gems sets for teams from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
Six of the teams in this eight-team set have been represented in SOM’s first Old Timers set of single-sided cards, popular with gamers for 50 years. Six were pennant winners:
- 1961 Cincinnati (93 wins, pennant winner)
- 1961 Detroit (101 wins)
- 1962 New York Mets (lovable losers with record 120 losses in first season)
- 1962 San Francisco (103 wins, pennant winner)
- 1965 Los Angeles Dodgers (97 wins, World Series winner)
- 1967 Boston (92 wins, pennant winner)
- 1968 St. Louis (97 wins, pennant winner)
- 1969 Baltimore (109 wins, pennant winner)
Combine these teams with SET B of the 1960s Diamond Gems and replay the 1961, 1965, 1967, 1968 and 1969 World Series.
But these eight alone offer endless entertainment with many of the greatest players in Major League history in their primes: Willie Mays (.304-49-141 in 1962), Sandy Koufax (26-8, 2.04, in 1965), Bob Gibson (1.1.2 ERA in 1968), Frank Robinson (.323-37-124 in 1961), Carl Yastrzemski (Triple Crown in 1967), Orlando Cepeda (.306-35-114 in 1962), Al Kaline (.324 in 1961), Juan Marichal, Brooks Robinson, and many others who had their greatest seasons with these teams.
