New for Version 2025:
- 1) Computer Manager Reliever Improvement – Four new Computer Manager relief pitching categories have been added. In addition to the already existing categories of left- and right-handed Closers and Setup relievers, here are the new categories:
- Long Reliever (1st through 4th inning reliever)
- 5th Inning Reliever
- 6th Inning Reliever
- 7th Inning Reliever
By assigning relievers to the various roles, you can craft a game plan for your bullpen. If you define pitchers for these reliever roles then they will be used as the preferred reliever in their defined inning. The defined pitcher will be “first out of the bullpen” as long as they qualify under these rules:
- The pitcher is eligible.
- The pitcher is not fatigued.
- The pitcher is not scheduled to start an upcoming game.
- The pitcher is not currently overused (however overusage is not checked if the League Option is set to “Ignore Overusage”).
- 2) Quick Play Improvements – There are two new types of Quick Play available to you:
- Next Key Decision – You can now Quick Play until a big moment of the game occurs. This allows you to bypass the standard at-bat situations and focus solely on the most important game situations. After you select “Next Key Decision” a dialog displays that allows you to define key situations where you want Quick Play to halt. There are more than 15 categories that you can define including things like “Stop if the computer manager would consider stealing 2nd base more that X percent of time”, and “Always stop when the winning run is on”. After you make your choices, Quick Play begins and it will continue monitoring the game situation as it progresses. When Quick Play senses that a key decision needs to be made the game will halt play so that you can make a strategic move and/or continue playing from that point. When the game halts it will display a message indicating the situation and optionally it will suggest some possible strategies you may wish to consider.
- After Next Score – You can now Quick Play until the next run crosses the plate. When the game halts it will display the Play Account report so you can see how the run was scored. Closing out the report allows you to continue as normal from that point. If you select “After Next Score” and no more runs are scored, the game will end as normal and you will have an opportunity to view the box score.
- Show/Hide Leagues – A new button has been added to the Miscellaneous Options screen that displays a dialog box which enables you to select leagues you would like to temporarily hide. This can be useful if you have a lot of leagues installed that you don’t frequently reference. Inactive leagues can clutter up the display of leagues that you are currently using. Selecting a league on this dialog simply hides it from being displayed in the list of leagues shown on the League Manager. You can always show hidden leagues whenever you wish by invoking this dialog again and de-selecting them. There are “Show All” and “Hide All” buttons to make things quicker if you wish to hide everything but just a few of the leagues. This feature also includes buttons to quickly hide (or unhide) all pitcher hitting “99” leagues. NOTE: We recommend as an added measure of security that you back leagues before hiding them.
- Game Lineup Dialog– There is a new “Reports” button in the Lineup dialog that provides direct access to the in-game reports. This new button will come in handy when you want to view information such as the boxscore or a team’s Defense Grid to help you decide on your substitutions. In previous versions of the game you needed to exit the lineup dialog, access the report to view it, and then re-enter the lineup dialog. That was inconvenient and also not always possible (as in-between innings you are forced back the lineup dialog if a position is missing).
- Custom Usage Report Adjustment Percentage – The Team Usage Report allows you to monitor player usage, which is important for leagues where you have restricted usage limits. For example, the Usage Report tells you how many at-bats you have left over for the rest of the season and the current usage “pace” each batter is on. This works fine if your league is restricted to the real-life at-bats. However, many leagues have rules that allow for more than 100% of the actual player at-bats. Your league might allow 110%, for example. There is now a way to enter in an adjustment percentage to be used by the Usage Report. This adjustment is entered in on the Lineups and Usage Options league dialog. The default is naturally 100%, but you can now override that by entering in your league usage adjustment before running the report. Three categories are adjusted, all which adjust both the pace percentage and the “Left” (leftover or remaining) amount: Batter At-Bats, Batter “Plate Appearances”, and Pitcher Innings. Note that pitcher Games Started is not adjusted as not all leagues allow for more pitcher starts, and for those that do there is no consensus as to how that gets adjusted. Also note that the Warn When Actual Usage Exceeded feature utilizes this adjustment percentage.
- Generate Computer Manager – Several improvement have been made to the Generate Computer Manager feature:
- Positions are optimized in the generated lineups so that if swapping positions for 2 players makes sense that is now done.
- Improved selection of default minor leaguers.
- Improved support for 19th century computer manager generation.
- Starting pitcher rotation now determined by GS instead of IP.
- Tournament Backup and Restore – The Tournaments feature now includes Backup and Restore capabilities. When you backup a tournament the backed up zip file is placed in a sub-folder located in the main Tournaments folder. Important – Please note that just the tournament files are backed up, not the rosters. For example, if you created a tournament using teams from 10 different real-life seasons the rosters for those teams are not backed up, just the tournament files. So, if after backing up a tournament you delete one of those rosters you will also need to restore (or reinstall) any team rosters that were used when you originally created the tournament or the restored tournament will not work properly.
- Super Hal Lineup Depth Chart – The dialog that allows you to edit the Super Hal Lineup Depth Charts now includes a “Generate” button. This button will generate the depth charts for all positions. The players are sorted based upon overall player performance with an eye towards how often each played the position being sorted. After this function runs you can customize each position’s depth chart to your liking. This feature will make it easier to set up reasonably good default depth chart values if your league uses the Super Hal Lineups option.
